"Overall hardware sales decreased from its record previous quarter but with the notable exception of the iPods: they’re up from the same quarter a year ago." > "However, the iPod didn’t fare so well: Sales are down 15% over last year’s quarter."
What?
- roc 14y agoThe graphs suggest iPod is down in unit sales but up in total revenue. iPod revenue for the quarter is even higher than it was during the last quarter (christmas).
- huxley 14y agoProbably a side effect of the increasing share of iPod touch vs other lower-margin/price models.
- shpoonj 14y agoAlso... "In that period Apple sold 37.04M iPhones, 15.43M iPads, and 5.2M Macs. Even the iPad sold well with 15.4M units." Being a journalist keeps getting easier...
- silvestrov 14y agoSo 3 iPads for every Mac. The average selling price of an iPad is ~$600 [1], so if the average selling price of macs are less than $1800 (likely), the iPad is bigger in revenue than the Mac. 1: http://www.ipadjailbreak.com/2012/01/ipad-average-selling-price.html http://www.ipadjailbreak.com/2012/01/ipad-average-selling-pr...
- shpoonj 14y agoMy point here is that the number of iPads is listed twice...
- joezydeco 14y agoPerhaps people churn phones more than they do iPods?
- shpoonj 14y agoiPods: they’re up from the same quarter a year ago != iPod didn’t fare so well: Sales are down 15% over last year’s quarter
