This is worse than the Japanese cartoons that people claimed made them convulse. When they paint ships like this, they call it Dazzle Camouflage because it is so hard to focus on. It's literally a military tactic meant to mess with your vision.
We even know that from how zebras survive as long as they do with all their hungry predators circling about.
Greyscale is better. I can't imagine how this is an improvement.
I'm colourblind, and this visual tweak is horrific.
- MBCook 3y agoI just find this very confusing. It’s a fascinating solution they came to. I do wonder how well it would work if not for all the horrible horrible side effects. But they’re not the first ones to do this. Tons of games have been adding accessibility options in the last few years (woo!). Even as someone who’s not colorblind and doesn’t know anything about the correct way to approach this it seems like a bad idea. Even if it was worth considering the instant it started causing headaches and nausea and vertigo during testing that seems like it should’ve been a sign you were doing something wrong. So both the fact that they shipped this and that they now seem to be doubling down on thinking they’re fine is just confusing.
