It Is 2024. Update Your Website Footer
- theandrewbailey 3y ago> Ever looked at a website and wondered if it is still in operation? Maybe a thing or two looked like they could have been updated – and then you notice the copyright notice the in the footer. "2012. Right, this site must be dead. Let's move along." (site has a share on Google+ button) This site is dead.
- DamonHD 3y agoExcept that a dynamically updating copyright year without any work having been done may not be legally valid, ie there was no copyrightable step taken... (IANAL)
- nathanaldensr 3y agoAnd in the United States, copyright notices are not even necessary; you own the copyright to your work whether or not there is a notice.
- DamonHD 3y agoGenerally the Berne Convention makes that so in most of the world, not just the US.
- GloomyBoots 3y agoIsn’t an older copyright date preferable? Could do <start-year>-<current-year>.
- easywood 3y ago>> 2012. Right, this site must be dead. Let's move along. To be honest, I love it when I see a fixed date. Some information is time-dependent. Maybe I do move along when I see 2012. no time wasted here. That's a feature!
