Strong vibes of soviet pipe dreams. The ESA is by all intents and purposes irrelevant.
- imtringued 3y agoIf something as trivial as melting regolith in place is a soviet pipe dream then I have a bridge to sell you about producing methalox on Mars or Blue Origin's Blue Alchemist capable of producing solar panels from nothing but lunar regolith.
- gumballindie 3y agoThe only thing ESA will achieve is to regulate the moon and driving on it. Made of 22 nations but a budget 4 times smaller than that of NASA, ESA is essentially a hobby project.
- simne 3y agoSoviet dreams was not more than abstract dreams, without any connection to reality. ESA, from historical experience is extremely pragmatic, and most cost effective from all space agencies at Earth. But must admit, few times ESA very seriously worked on projects, which has closed at early stages, without any visible effect. Will see.
