Have a look at B-corps https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B_Corporation_(certification) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B_Corporation_(certification) I see Patagonia is in the list, too. https://www.bcorporation.net/en-us/find-a-b-corp/ https://www.bcorporation.net/en-us/find-a-b-corp/ has a filter by industry, for example raidboxes.io for Wordpress hosting.
- atmosx 3y agoIf only we could find a way to connect social responsibility to the stock price...
- mushufasa 3y agoour company runs computations to allow investors to run this analysis (yourstake.org), though the market demand for ESG (environmental social and governance) investment analysis has sharply decreased this past year.
- nmd 3y agoit's not mentioned on the list, but wetransfer.com (file sharing tech company) is a B Corp.
- palemoonale 3y agoA foreign corp that uses an .io TLD operates not ethically.
- dotcoma 3y agoCan you please help me understand why? Thanks.
- DiggyJohnson 3y agoThis is a little too black and white for my taste. Of all the unethical things a company can do, using .io is a minuscule and academic issue considering the popularity of the TLD.
- dysoco 3y agoI don't really think most companies using the .io domain have any knowledge of the ethical issues.
- csharpminor 3y agoI'm very mixed about B-corp (I say this as someone who went through it about 10 years ago). There isn't really anything about the certification process that's binding, and it's definitely gamed. There are multiple MLMs that are certified B-corps. I would liken it to those semi-paid 40 under 40 lists that pop up every year.
- paulette449 3y agoI think this is right. I do use B-Corp designation as a useful sign post for companies that are trying to do business well that I should consider supporting, but not all B-corps hold true to that, while there are many, many non-"certified B-Corps" that try do business responsibly.
