Alex Jones Joins Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, Andrew Tate in Spaces Conversation
- clouddrover 3y agoI doubt that will do Twitter's advertising business much good.
- daymanstep 3y agoIt’s already dead after what happened earlier this year.
- Aneugendil 3y agowhat happened earlier in the year? The death or threads?
- Arnt 3y agoRight. But you have to admire someone who's willing to run a business into the ground for his ideals, even if those ideals are a leeeetle bit contrary to good sense. (Fuck Alex Jones and all those who hang out with him.)
- clouddrover 3y agoMusk hasn't demonstrated any ideals or principles. He has only demonstrated impulses. A year ago he would not reinstate Alex Jones: https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2022/nov/21/elon-musk-rules-out-conspiracy-theorist-alex-jones-return-to-twitter https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2022/nov/21/elon-musk... And his supposed "free speech absolutism" is nothing but hypocrisy: https://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/rcna81961 https://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/rcna81961 https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2022/dec/15/twitter-suspends-accounts-journalists-musk https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2022/dec/15/twitter-s... https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/sep/07/elon-musks-hypocrisy-about-free-speech-hits-a-new-low https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/sep/07/elon-m... Musk is an attention seeking narcissist. He is determined to turn himself into a cartoon and he is succeeding.
- Arnt 3y agoIm my view, he's stuck reasonably closely to the "secret Tesla master plan" for almost two decades. Some people will point out that he hasn't stuck 100% to it, with which I agree, but as I read it, he's followed it more than closely enough to demonstrate that he'll follow his principles. And that plan specifies ideals, so he has ideals too. Quoting: "the overarching purpose of Tesla Motors … is to help expedite the move … towards a solar electric economy, which I believe to be the primary, but not exclusive, sustainable solution."
- clouddrover 3y agoAnd it's just a shame that he felt the need to lie about Tesla so often? In 2016 Tesla claimed "as of today, all Tesla vehicles produced in our factory – including Model 3 – will have the hardware needed for full self-driving capability at a safety level substantially greater than that of a human driver": https://www.tesla.com/blog/all-tesla-cars-being-produced-now-have-full-self-driving-hardware https://www.tesla.com/blog/all-tesla-cars-being-produced-now... That was a straight up lie. Where were his ideals and principles then? Why did he lie about the $35,000 Model 3? Why did he lie about the $40,000 Cybertruck? Why does he feel the need to lie about something as trivial as quarter mile times for a truck: https://insideevs.com/news/699260/tesla-cybertruck-porsche-race/ https://insideevs.com/news/699260/tesla-cybertruck-porsche-r... It's pathetic.
- inemesitaffia 3y agoIsn't the model 3 around that price?
- clouddrover 3y agoAround that price isn't that price. They've had years to deliver on it. Still failing. That's the problem with lies. Lies make you a liar.
- inemesitaffia 3y ago
- 3cats-in-a-coat 3y ago"But you have to admire someone who's willing to run a business into the ground for his ideals" What ideals? He said just few months ago he'll never unban Alex Jones because: "I have no mercy on anyone who uses the deaths of children for gain, fame or politics." Those were his stated ideals. As you see they're worth zero.
- illiac786 3y agothis. Elon has no principle or ideals, he makes strong and often insulting statements which he then changes a couple of weeks later. He's like a two year old, but significantly more dangerous.
- 3cats-in-a-coat 3y agoEven uglier than the whims of a two-year old, he may be motivated by advance knowledge of today's news by Tucker Carlson: Carlson is moving forward with his plans for a private streaming framework for his shows. Effectively he's moving his show off Twitter. And fearing the coverage, I could see how Elon Musk wanted to find a similar figure to put in his place both to suppress the news of Carlson leaving, and to avoid the narrative of an "X-odus" spreading from big advertisers, to the prominent right-wing figures on X seen leaving. It all comes down to ego, appearances, and power. All very ineptly wielded, since if your best hope is inviting Alex Jones to your platform, you definitely have to stop and think hard WTF you're doing wrong.
- illiac786 3y agooh, I like “X-odus” so much. It’s “he did this to himself”, but twice over.
- 3cats-in-a-coat 3y agoThe 𝕏-odus. ;-)
- renegade-otter 3y agoI respect someone who has "ideals" as a matter of principle, someone who will sacrifice and forfeit gain for those ideals. Freedom of speech! Also - I am going to make a lot of money in China, where people literally disappear for speech. If you are that rich, I sort of expect you to be a crap human in SOME way, but stop fronting like you have wings growing out of your back. Musk can say two opposite things in two adjacent sentences, but the Alex Jones thing takes the cake. I want to hear the "but what about the children!" crowd discuss this. Awfully quiet in here. Main-stream media something something. Main-stream media did not fire Twitters safety and compliance team, and did not reinstate the vomit stain of a human that is Alex Jones. Elon Musk did it - ALL of it.
- defrost 3y agoSee also: Elon Musk allows controversial conspiracy theorist Alex Jones back on X https://www.npr.org/2023/12/10/1218453370/elon-musk-allows-controversial-conspiracy-theorist-alex-jones-back-on-x https://www.npr.org/2023/12/10/1218453370/elon-musk-allows-c... Jones generated controversy for spreading false, wild conspiracies, claiming that a "New World Order" was sacrificing children on a California compound; that the U.S. government had "weather weapons" that triggered catastrophes like major floods; and that FBI Director Robert Mueller was a demon. Shortly after being formally re-instated on X, Jones and Musk joined Vivek Ramaswamy, Laura Loomer (a self-described "proud Islamophobe" who has been banned from some platforms) and others in a live chat on Sunday. "I'm telling you they want us silenced for what we said," said Jones. The conversation covered a series of, at times, confusing topics including the "deep state" and the threats that the participants perceived to masculinity. Adding Andrew Tate to the mix solidifies Musk as the Salt Bae of “Go fuck yourself. Go. Fuck. Yourself.” Hard to see this going well with advertisers.
- rsynnott 3y ago> and that FBI Director Robert Mueller was a demon. Well, he’s creative, anyway. That’s a Charlie Stross storyline.
- Aneugendil 3y agoRead more Rene Girard and how powerful people create scape goats to distract from their failures. Once you do that, you will understand the role of these people.
- rsynnott 3y agoAh, the finals of the Upper-class Twit of the Year competition.
- klt44jkl23t4 3y ago[dead]
- lgkk 3y agoThis has to be AI generated right?
- parrellel 3y agoNope, Musk literally invited Jones and Tate to babble with him for three hours. Just a grand old time :-/
- hnaccountme 3y agoThats what I thought as well.
