Why would Elon Musk want to deliberately destroy X?
- valianteffort 3y agoCan we avoid sharing sophomoric pieces from dilettante writers. It's uninsightful, unoriginal, and more tuned for the reddit audience.
- defrost 3y agoSuch as your comment? Dilettante: a person who cultivates an area of interest, such as the arts, without real commitment or knowledge. Is that the correct word to use for a someone with more than four years and 32 pages worth of back article heading listings of paid contributions to an international publication? They do appear to be committed to the work of column inches. Regardless of any trite dismissal the question of why Musk seems determined to nosdive Xitter into the ground is an interesting one. Perhaps he does have a Master Plan to pull up after shaking out what he considers dead weight, perhaps he is just winging it between hits on his pipe.
- valianteffort 3y agoThe Musk hit pieces are as lowbrow and low-effort as the Trump ones. Just because you have a hardon for Musk doesn't mean every midwit that writes an article about why they're so much smarter than him is saying something profound.
- defrost 3y agoCan you quote the part in the article where the author states they're so much smarter than Musk? What, exactly, makes you imagine I have a hardon?

- unsupp0rted 3y agoI agree it's sophomoric. > After an outburst this week > Is Musk just a narcissist > the billionaire seethed > Musk’s latest outburst > Musk’s plan all along was to stop free expression

- archo 3y agoAll things considered, we must postulate the possibility that killing the bird is purposeful. It would not be the first time that a company has been tanked with the intention of purchasing it at its lowest value. A “good Knight” charges in offering 1 cent on the dollar (or .1 or .01 etc.) the purchasing company may appear as having no association with said person, but is indeed deemed “a friendly “ This is a possibility, who can tell?
- rsynnott 3y agoSerious clickbait there. The actual content is fairly anodyne (some people think it’s a grand conspiracy, but it’s probably just because he’s kind of impulsive and dumb), but the headline really leans on the grand conspiracy angle.
- 3cats-in-a-coat 3y agoAllowing an impulsive and dumb person to be the richest man on Earth, and wield power in multiple companies, including some critical for national security like SpaceX... does require a grand conspiracy. That's millions of people: government officials, investment bankers and countless retail investors conspiring to feed him cash for his endless nonsense.
- valianteffort 3y agoGotta love when people who don't know a thing about Musk beyond his eccentric public persona call him dumb. Where is your rocket startup btw? Have you built anything of value? Employed cities worth of people? Or were you an emerald mine and few government handouts short of wild success? Give me a break.
- meepmorp 3y agoWhat if he's really, sincerely trying to make the business work? What if this is actually the best he could possibly do and he's just really fucking bad at it?
- kristianp 3y agoWhen Twitter rebranded to X, I couldn't help but wonder, "What's going on? Does Musk have some secret bet against it?" It was funny to watch. Now, with Musk's recent moves, it's almost like he's intentionally steering Twitter downhill, as if he's got a bet that X will flop. I highly doubt it, but the thought just makes me smile. And the way his CEO had to defend his ravings against advertisers [0], it's just all such a farce.
