I keep my money at a bank. If I want to spend cash, I have to go to the bank, the ATM, and get it. The bank is indeed an unavoidable middle man. The card just simplifies the transaction.
- joshjob42 3y agoOne could imagine though having universal accounts with the central bank, and no middleman for most transactions. Cashless but banks for checking and basic savings really aren't necessary.
- rad_gruchalski 3y agoIn many places it's also possible to receive a cash back from the counter. Works in Germany, works in the UK.
- CalChris 3y agoWorks here as well, at the grocery store and this is safer.
