Would it make sense for Argentina to just join the US? Perhaps they could come in as 3-4 new states and just become Americans?

- pard68 3y agoUS Congress would never condone this, even if Argentina's did.
- SiempreViernes 3y agoI'm not so sure, imagine if Argentina pretended to elect a "communist" that then seized some American assets in the country and planned to hand them to the Chinese? The tricky bit is making sure the resulting US occupation becomes long lasting, I think you would have to store away substantial amounts of money to bribe a gaggle of senators for a few decades to make incorporation possible.

- ImJamal 3y agoI doubt this would happen. Americans don't want a place that is as chaotic and corrupt. If they can get their act together there is a chance they could join, but until that happens there is no way it would happen.
- rootos 3y agoArgentina is mostly white, Christian and doesn't have any part in the internecine blood feuds that roil South Asia or the middle east. Lots of land, and well educated. No history of slavery (well at least not like its neighbor Brazil). So, yeah, it'd be a great addition to the USA. I'd take it.
- rootos 3y agoTo expand on my previous point Argentina seems like one of America's most poorly governed states at the local level - New Jersey. High level of local corruption, etc. And NJ is full of Italians and so is Argentina. It'd be like admitting a giant-size NJ. I'll take it!
- speedylight 3y agoI don’t think the democrats and moderates would love the idea of bringing in a country that just elected their equivalent of Donald Trump.
