- iwanttocomment 3y agoI'm not worried about when OpenAI discovers AGI - all of us Americans have. I'm worried about when OpenAI discovers the Alternative Minimum Tax. OpenAI is in San Francisco! Like, everyone not on welfare in San Francisco encounters the AMT for no good reason, and the second that AI understands what's going on, things are going to get real weird. Like, all of a sudden there's going to be TaxGPT!
- fragmede 3y agoI'm sure the luminaries at OpenAI have encountered paying AMT from previous dealings in the startup world. Sama's estimated net worth is north of $500 million, and the rest of the employees aren't poor either. Gdb was an early employee at Stripe.
- iwanttocomment 3y agoOh, man. It was a joke conflating the two common meanings of AGI - Artificial General Intelligence and Adjusted Gross Income. It clearly didn't land. Like the SpaceX Starship test! LOL! No? I'll be here all week. Unfortunately.
- seanmcdirmid 3y agoI doubt AGI will a huge breakthrough when it finally comes. It will be a slog of incremental progress with competitors not that far behind, so the first company that discovers it has a few months or maybe a year in everyone else.
