Technically per-device based filtering is done using MAC addresses, since local IPs can change sometimes. But even then it's trivial to change your MAC address even on an iPhone.
- joezydeco 3y agoThe router-based controls just don't work when the kid's phone has cellular access, combined with unlimited data plans. So then you're back to the device controls which don't work. Some carriers offer primitive time-based access control but, again, they are broken too.
