It's kind of remarkable that most are not even based in Europe. Google, Microsoft, law enforcement - I'm sure there were comprehensive criteria in their selection, but that doesn't sound like the correct kind of crowd to advise on matters of privacy and security.

- yardstick 3y agoDo we know where the Google and Microsoft employees were based? They have many European offices. Also if they are advising on the technology of CSAM rather than the politics of it, then does it really matter where they are based?
- seydor 3y agoYes of course it does, they have every incentive to misdirect / conceal , and move the conversation to where it's convenient for their parent company.

- matthewdgreen 3y agoThe Microsoft employees are based at Microsoft Research, and a couple of them are accomplished cryptographers. I don't know the Google folks.
