Legendary Semiconductor Physicist Simon Sze has died
- peterhull90 3y ago"Physics of Semiconductor Devices" was a very useful and clearly-written book I read in the 90s - I must still have my copy somewhere. I didn't know the author had made such groundbreaking discoveries.
- jamesik 3y agoSurreal. I am currently studying this book for a university class, and the moment I take a break and check HN I see this.
- amelius 3y agoThis is your sign to continue studying ;)
- dudek1337 3y agoMay I ask what course are you taking? I am interested in learning more background on semiconductors so I'm curious what you are studying.
- jamesik 3y agoSure. I'm currently in the 1st year of a master's in nanotechnology. I'm taking courses in quantum physics, semiconductor physics, semiconductor devices and materials physics. The semiconductor devices course follows Simon Sze's book almost 1:1. I've found Neamen's "Semiconductor Physics and Devices" and Kasap's "Principles of Electronic Materials and Devices" also excellent for additional explanations.

- mwbajor 3y agoSad. I was lucky to have a few professors that were his coworkers at Bell Labs. They spoke very highly of him. His book is still instrumental in the field.
- ipnon 3y agoA great builder of Silicon Valley
