Ask HN: Cyberdecks like the Clockwork UConsole
Are there any portal computers like the uConsole[0]that you'd recommend checking out? I need Linux (not Android) for working with terminals and light web browsing on the go.

- its-summertime 3y agohttps://www.tindie.com/ https://www.tindie.com/ , https://hackaday.io/ https://hackaday.io/ , https://www.crowdsupply.com/ https://www.crowdsupply.com/ , are some sites with similar products/projects https://hackaday.com/tag/handheld/ https://hackaday.com/tag/handheld/ is probably where I would start A Pinephone + Pinephone keyboard case, is also an option.
- thatmiddleway 3y agoPinephone pro in the keyboard case is pretty fun. I run postmarketOS with SXMO and it’s very capable. It does calls/texts and provides a nice little Linux environment for light coding.
- rapnie 3y agoLichee Console 4A, see: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38011728 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38011728
- lagrange77 3y agoHave a look at https://liliputing.com/ https://liliputing.com/
- evanjrowley 3y agoThis is quite small, but you get Linux running on a hard to find Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W. You gotta 3d print your own case, or find someone who can do it for you. It's not practical for your use cases, but still pretty cool. https://beepy.sqfmi.com/ https://beepy.sqfmi.com/
- nmstoker 3y agoI agree they were hard to find but for the last eight weeks or so they've become fairly widely available again. Just look here, https://rpilocator.com/ https://rpilocator.com/ - there's a huge list of vendors round the world
- crest 3y agoWith that keyboard it's a neat, but useless toy.
- qbrass 3y ago'Neat, but useless' is how you know it's a cyberdeck.
- corysama 3y agoIf you want something approaching actually cyberpunk, not fantasy console, check out the Spacetop AR laptop. https://www.theverge.com/23727583/spacetop-augmented-reality-laptop-release-hands-on https://www.theverge.com/23727583/spacetop-augmented-reality...
