Sam Bankman-Fried Is Going to Testify
- the-dude 3y agoTwo pieces of advice : - Never take the stand yourself - Never use RED for hyperlinks
- FigurativeVoid 3y agoThis seems patently unwise. I was listening to journalists talk about how his main rhetorical strategy is to talk you around in circles. That may work for journalists. It will not for skilled lawyers.
- magic_man 3y agoSeems like a bad idea. Why did people give him billions of dollars? Did he ever make money on his trades? When markets are going up every one is making money. I am wondering how many of the super rich are smart or hard working or just got very lucky.
- FigurativeVoid 3y ago> Why did people give him billions Let’s not blame the people too badly. He was going out of his way to commit fraud. I’m sure the data he presented made FTX/Alameda seem great. > Did he ever make money on his trades? He’s famous for making a lot of money on one Bitcoin arbitrage. Other than that I have no idea.
- ipsin 3y agoI think it's reasonable to ask if the Japanese arbitrage actually ever took place, particularly at the scale he claimed it did. It comes off a lot like Charles Ponzi's postal coupon story. A story to tell as part of the confidence game.
- lordnacho 3y agoI can't see this working out for him. What is he going to say that might make sense? He's the boss, the face of the business, and he is ultimately in charge of knowing and approving what the business does. I'll be disappointed at the jury if they don't hold him responsible.
- hijinks 3y agotell me you're a narcissist without saying you are a narcissist. I have a feeling he thinks in his head that going up and just saying he was sorry and mistakes were made are going to make everything ok. From youtube videos I watch about people that are in the court room reporting on the trail, the prosecutors are very good
