Even Google CEO Sundar Pichai doesn't understand Google's privacy controls

- m463 3y agoThis is hard to do. Some sites block on recaptcha and many sites, such as the IRS or DMV interweave google services with their site.
- lolllllllz 3y agoSounds nice but try saying no to Play Services. Android then _horribly_ breaks. #monopolyftw

- infotainment 3y agoIf we look at his past performance, it's pretty obvious that Google CEO Sundar Pichai doesn't understand just about anything, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that he doesn't understand this particular thing. It's unfortunate that Google is saddled with such an ineffectual CEO, whose product vision could probably be summed up as "oh well this could maybe be interesting I guess".
- mrbigbob 3y agoi am legitimately shocked that he has not been sacked with all the missteps that he has been at the helm for. i understand he would get a nice golden parachute but i think a wet piece of bread would be a better CEO than him

- mvdtnz 3y agoHe should probably have some familiarity with the things about which he's testifying in court.
- bensecure 3y agoThe argument would be that the average user is expected to understand these privacy controls in order to make decisions about their data. If even the CEO of google, who is well positioned to be able to understand them if he chooses, doesn't understand them, then the average user has little hope.
- w0z_ 3y agoIs it really a surprise Google started rolling down the hill when Sundar Pichai became CEO? What big thing has Google done since Sundar Pichai stepped into the CEO role? Absolutely nothing. It's all past projects that came to fruition. For what Google was, and what it has become... it's very sad.
- streakfix 3y agoNo surprises here. Google is a huge company. Linux doesn't understand the entirety of Linux kernel anymore either.
