I think you would have to say something similar about Japan (even if Japan is a chain of Islands). Korea, Indonesia, the Philippines, China - I don't think the Japanese economy would be the same today without their neighbors?
- KptMarchewa 3y agoNot exactly, as those economies compete as much as cooperate, while EU is a single market - at least in the "no tariffs and free flow of goods" sense.
