Places are getting warmer and can support diseases that couldn’t survive there before.

  It's more about the disease vectors' ranges changing, the UK now has tiger mosquitos living here for a large portion of the year, bringing the possibility of dengue, zika, west nile, and other diseases that it carries, which would have been scoffed at as ridiculous 50 years ago.

  "One factor ... may be" - when the article doesn't even have good data on a "northward creep" existing - sounds like "rule of cool" speculation to me.

Human bodies are normally at temperatures higher than fungi like to grow in.
