Ubuntu 23.10 release image withdrawn due to malicious translation incident
- I_am_uncreative 3y agoThis is ridiculous, and calls into question the integrity of the Ubuntu project. Yikes.
- justsomehnguy 3y ago> This is ridiculous It's just a regular thing on anything crowdsourced. Ubuntu uses Weblate, so just create an account on Github, sneak anything you want and wouldn't be understood (how many people in Ubuntu knows Ukranian? Russian? Persian? Hebrew?), ask for a merge. This just got a bit more visibility because of the current situation. https://github.com/canonical/ubuntu-desktop-provision/commits?author=DaniloNegrilo https://github.com/canonical/ubuntu-desktop-provision/commit...
- treffer 3y agoThe pulled locale is UK (Ukraine). https://github.com/canonical/ubuntu-desktop-provision/commit/01b9616a7472a08434ead9e046e9f9b02514ab8a https://github.com/canonical/ubuntu-desktop-provision/commit... Oh my. I guess this needs some more attention. This might be a state actor open source supply chain issue.
- app4soft 3y agoAnd not only Ubuntu's locales has been maliciosly edited by anonymous "Danilo Negrilo", but many other projects' locales on Weblate has been maliciously edited by the same anonymous 'contributor' too.[0] [0] https://github.com/helloSystem/Filer/issues/182 https://github.com/helloSystem/Filer/issues/182
