Tell YC: Happy Thanksgiving everyone
Happy Thanksgiving everybody! Hopefully, you're spending time with your family & friends today instead of hacking on stuff. Even better, hacking on stuff with your family & friends =].
- astrec 18y agoShe who must be obeyed and I just wrapped up our Thanksgiving dinner - tough day when your family is 10000 miles away. Anyhow, happy Thanksgiving to all.
- d0mine 18y agoGoogle says Earth's diameter at the equator is 7926.28 miles (12756.1 km). So you may be certain that your family is always less than 10000 miles away. :)
- vizard 18y agoUnless you are an astronaut.
- mahipal 18y agoEr, and that distance is only important if you're going to drill through the Earth to see them. ;) Otherwise the distance is upper-bounded around 12400 miles. At any rate, happy Thanksgiving wherever you are.
- astrec 18y agoIndeed, and as the crow (or 747-400 or A380) flies we're 10372 miles from the fam: MEL->JFK
- foobar2k 18y agoHappy Thursday for the rest of the world.
- avner 18y agowith all that has happened in the world (south asia) today.. unfortunately there is nothing happy about it.
- rudyfink 18y agoYes, the events of terrorism in South Asia were/are terrible and I suspect we will continue to find out how bad it was/is, but I don't think that means that there is nothing to be happy about. Even if your perspective is purely the negative, things could be far far worse. I think it is easy in our pursuit of the ideal to tend to see things as what is wrong rather than how much is right. I think focusing primarily on the defects deprives one of the joy of realizing all the things there are to appreciate.
- apsurd 18y agoThis is a good point. I find it important to think about how there has always been and always will be death and despair. It is, for better or worse, the natural balance to things. It's important to note that throughout all time there has been tragedy, it is only now that we have super-mass-media and perpetual-second-by-second reporting that we are aware of it all. People have a right to be happy.
- uuilly 18y agoI know this is a joke but if a Brit told HN "Happy Guy Fawkes Day" Americans would probably say, "cheers." It's a holiday, give thanks, don't be cynical for 24 hours :)
- apsurd 18y agoaw you warmed my heart with your comment. Making Americans feel loved (for a bit).
- DanielBMarkham 18y agoHappy Thanksgiving! May the Great Pumpkin smile upon you all. : )
- tptacek 18y agoThe great pumpkin is Halloween. You want to tell everyone to enjoy their popcorn and toast.
- DanielBMarkham 18y agoYou think the Great Pumpkin just goes away after Halloween? Barbarian! : )

- foobar2k 18y ago"Even better, hack your family & friends"
- chops 18y agoFamily, friends, and food are just the overture to the real meaning of Thanksgiving: Black Friday! Anyone else preparing for a long and cold (Wisconsin here) night at [Insert favorite Electronics Store]?
- callmeed 18y agoHappy Hacksgiving to you
- Raphael 18y agoPlease pass the hackberry sauce.
- Jasber 18y agoThanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Its like Christmas but without the gift-giving. Spending time with those you love while enjoying amazing food and each others company--just the way a holiday should be. Seems to me Christmas would be a lot better without the gifts.
- YuriNiyazov 18y agoI am hacking on stuff. Alone, with Glenn Gould playing "The Well Tempered Clavier" in my headphones.
- run4yourlives 18y agoThanksgiving was last month. But enjoy your American holiday. :-)
- staunch 18y agoUnfortunately, I'm not such a geek that I am checking HN today. But if I were, I would say: Happy Thanksgiving to everyone on HN!
- markessien 18y agoHappy Thanksgiving to you too, and a merry Halloween!
- pkaler 18y agoI am thankful for the improved health of my family, my obscenely wonderful girlfriend, the business taking off, and being in the best shape since my university days. (Even though I live in Canada)
