Do We Need to Wear Noise-Canceling Headphones and Earbuds This Much?
- unsupp0rted 3y agoYes. I don't need to hear people popping gum on the subway. I don't need to hear the guy outside my window horking up phlegm for 20 solid minutes (you can guess where I'm currently located by those cultural associations). That's unnatural and antisocial. Blocking these sounds out isn't.
- bediger4000 3y agoNumber 1,327,625 in WSJ's ongoing series, "Everything new that takes money out of an incumbent's pocket is BAD". Is it possible to auto-flag and auto-kill WSJ articles (or at least opinion pieces)? HN does this to links to Jamie Zawinski's jwz.org blog, despite it containing interesting posts. Yes, I know why HN does this. It should do the same to WSJ articles, especially opinion pieces because they contain nothing new: same theme, same form of arguments. There's no innovation, no change.
