The U.S. government did not devolve into a mess, as far as I know. In fact, it started out in https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devolution https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devolution (yes, that's the term). America was founded on a libertarian skepticism of government, as an experiment of decentralized power between states.
Also, as someone else said, claiming that the U.S. government is less functional than Mexico's, despite Mexico's having better health outcomes per healthcare cost, is laughable.
Also, those higher deductibles are anecdotes of people whose deductibles went up so that other people's deductibles could go down.

In fact, it started out in https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devolution https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devolution (yes, that's the term). Very funny. You know very well that I used the term to mean "degraded". If you don't. Well, no point in having a conversation. > claiming that the U.S. government is less functional than Mexico's, despite Mexico's having better health outcomes per healthcare cost, is laughable. No, what is laughable is fabricating something I DID NOT SAY and then making a statement while pretending I did say it. What I said is that the US is different. Every country is different. You cannot take a solution that works for country A and assume it will work in country B. They are NOT the same thing. > those higher deductibles are anecdotes of people whose deductibles went up so that other people's deductibles could go down. Triple? No, that's abusive and wrong. Nothing wrong with helping people and sharing in the burden. We are being robbed of the equivalent of a mortgage payment or our kids college fund. That's criminal. The President of the United States of America promised its people that, if you like what you have, you could keep it. Period. His words. If you think it is right for our politicians to deceive us like that, well, there's nothing I can say to make you understand just how wrong this is and how dangerous it would be to give them more control over our lives.

The level of ignorance surrounding what has happened to healthcare (in the financial sense) in the US is astounding. The way people got lower cost coverage is that 65 million people were shoved into Medicaid. They then robbed millions of us to subsidize ridiculous plans that would not survive in a free market at all. However, the most egregious thing is something ideological zealots either know nothing about or refuse to talk about. The fact that Obamacare/ACA represents the largest single private property grab by a government, likely anywhere in the world, in human history. Quite a statement, right? Back it up! Sure. I'll let our government speak for itself: https://www.medicaid.gov/medicaid/eligibility/estate-recovery/index.html https://www.medicaid.gov/medicaid/eligibility/estate-recover... The 65 million people on Medicaid (and growing) DO NOT have health insurance. They were shoved into a loan program and they have no idea this happened to them. Once 55 years of age, states are required, by law, to recover the accrued cost of the healthcare that person received. That recovery includes being able to impose liens on the real property of the enrollee, etc. In simple terms: Some large portion of the 65+ million people on Medicaid will have the State take most, if not all, of the value of their homes as payment for medical services rendered. After age 55, in the US, it is very easy to accrue hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills. Medicaid says "No problem, we'll take your home as payment". Sure, there are twists and turns to that, however, the law is clear in that recovery is legally required. Once again, a government that lies to us about what they are doing and then lies by omission again by not disclosing something as important as Medicaid Estate Recovery is criminal. How many people would have agreed to this had they known the government would have the right to attach everything they own to pay for medical bills? Right. This, again, is why government-run healthcare in the US would not be like it is elsewhere. Our government cannot be entrusted with this.
