What's Going on at Italy's Campi Flegrei Caldera?
- jaclaz 3y agoTLDR: We have no idea, but it is potentially dangerous.
- everfrustrated 3y agoClick bait. Nothing at all new in the article.
- xg15 3y agoWikipedia actually sounds more worrying here than the clickbait article. Not sure I like that... > On March 16, 2022, a magnitude 3.5 earthquake struck the Phlegraean Fields on the western edge of the Solfatara. On March 29, 2022, a magnitude 3.6 earthquake occurred east of the Solfatara. These two events were the strongest since the 1980s crisis.[12] > In September 2023, the two most severe earthquakes in 40 years occurred in the region within a few weeks. On September 7th, a magnitude 3.8 earthquake shook the Phlegraean Fields. There was minor damage to buildings in Agnano, a suburb of Naples, and a power outage in Pozzuoli.[23] An even stronger earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 was recorded on September 27th and was still felt in Rome. Once again there was minor damage to buildings.[24] https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phlegr%C3%A4ische_Felder#Vulkanische_Aktivit%C3%A4t https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phlegr%C3%A4ische_Felder#Vulka... https://www.ansa.it/campania/notizie/2023/09/27/scossa-magnitudo-4.2-ai-campi-flegrei-sciame-sismico-in-corso_f9ffaf98-0c9b-43b6-b2d6-64cf507ea975.html https://www.ansa.it/campania/notizie/2023/09/27/scossa-magni...
- sparcpile 3y agoThere is a video by Soup Emporium on Youtube that compares the uplift of the Yellowstone caldera to Campi Flegrei's. The video is queued up to where Campi Flegrei is discussed. https://youtu.be/ypn3Fe_PLts?t=233 https://youtu.be/ypn3Fe_PLts?t=233
- Woshiwuja 3y agoItalian here, the area is pretty hated and hoping for an eruption is pretty common in the rest of Italy...
- ricdl 3y agoonly in the racist parts of Italy :)
- viciousvoxel 3y agoSo, Italy, except perhaps parts of the northwest
- Woshiwuja 3y agoThe northwest is the most racist part of Italy, ever been here?
- Woshiwuja 3y agohttps://youtu.be/oPnZR_btqDY https://youtu.be/oPnZR_btqDY for context
- Woshiwuja 3y agoNo. Every part of Italy except for the Naples area. I agree with you, it's racist (despite no race being involved) but saying that doesnt happen is false
- 0xffff2 3y agoNo one said it doesn't happen :)
