I'm very interested in the question for how the design of online spaces in terms of user interaction creates incentives. The differences between no voting / upvote only / upvote + downvote seem significant.
- api 3y agoHas anyone ever tried downvote only? I use downvotes rarely, usually if something is flat wrong or seems to be unhinged or trolling. If most people did likewise a downvote only might be akin to a naturally ordered timeline but with crap removed.
- dan_j_x 3y agoI've never seen it. I think because people don't like to get downvoted, and so it can keep them from posting if the only possible signal is negative.
