I mean… while maybe a bit reckless I wonder how much cash was saved and if anything really went wrong. 100m/yr is a wild amount of expenses. 9 months is just crazy to shuffle boxes from one place to the other, all while bleeding cash.

Is it ever ok to cause a service to go down in real time to possibly save 100M/year? Especially when your service going down leads to lots of embarassing press?
