p2k23 Hackathon Report: Chasing memory corruptions
- jmclnx 3y ago>spoiler alert: the upstream developer has proposed a patch since then, and it totally fixes the regression, so we'll get a working 118 in time for the release Nice, if I understand the article correctly, Firefox fixed a regression found in the soon to be new OpenBSD Release. Yet another reason a mono-culture (ie: only code for Linux) is bad for everyone.
- mewse-hn 3y agoYeah from my reading, OpenBSD's strict malloc() exposed a write after free() bug introduced recently to Firefox
- hedora 3y agoTesting with clang + x86 and also g++ + arm (or whatever combination of compilers and architectures makes sense) also helps, and is easier than maintaining a port to a second OS. It usually finds less stuff than a port to a second operating system, but it's also usually less effort to set up.
