Then we must make them abundant and frictionless to adopt. They have to be the easy path, not burning fossil fuels. If we can’t do that we need to prepare for the effects of 800ppm or more CO2 concentrations. India and Africa are about to do what China did and if it’s powered by coal that’s where we are going. Those are the two options. Anything else is a fantasy.
