Grimes trying to censor subreddit documenting alt-right affiliations
- custardcat 3y agoGrimes' claims and attempts to bypass reddit's traditional processes through her power and connections and her massive Twitter platform are a direct threat to freedom of speech. She is abusing her power and privilege to intimidate both this board's users, and reddit, into silence.
- smoldesu 3y ago> are a direct threat to freedom of speech I can't really agree with that. Reddit is provided at-will under a well-worded TOS. Furthermore, they've already made it clear that they want to be bought and sold. Between the advertising, moderator uprooting and general lust for an IPO, it should be clear to every Reddit user that their platform is manipulated by private interests. I'm afraid either side is at a loss here. Grimes obviously can't control her public image, but Reddit's users can't control the platform they use.

- bezier-curve 3y agoMost of their debunking claims are hair splitting or leaving me with the impression of there being more to the story. I can easily believe a reddit mob has been stalking and harassing a musician for years. This is a sad view of a community stuck in their own toxic hate bubble, enabled by a voting system that makes them feel validated chugging their own Kool aid.
