- EGreg 3y agoBuilding them how? I thought antibodies were generated by the immune system trying random combinations to match a virus’s outer protein structure?
- dekhn 3y agoAntibodies are "just proteins"- while some are made using VDJ recombination, you can also just design your own antibody sequence and have it expressed for you in the lab (typically grown inside of cells, like CHO). In this case they have a mechanism by which to design sequences that are similar to naturalyl generated antibodies but presumably aren't found by the adaptive immune system. Antibody engineering is a whole field.
