Why is it ridiculous when NFL and NBA players have $500MM contracts? Why shouldn't Google be allowed to pay these large contracts too?

- jtode 3y agoYou're conflating two kinds of people: one type is very talented and perhaps overpaid, the other has connections and has never done a shred of actual productive work in their life.
- jvmfjvfjvf 3y agoSundar Pichai managed many successful Google products before he became CEO.
- warning26 3y agoAnd after he became CEO, he has presided over exactly zero successful Google products!
- bmitc 3y agoWhat were they? Aren't most core Google products on rails, even getting slightly worse over time? And the non-core products just get buried in the desert.
- somsak2 3y agoFeel free to find this information on Wikipedia.
- bmitc 3y agoOh, sorry. I thought this was a discussion forum.
- satvikpendem 3y agoDiscussion requires modica of effort on both sides. Don't ask an easily googleable (hah) question on a discussion forum, they're not question and answer sites.
- bmitc 3y agoWhether or not I looked up the specific products, my general question remains, as I asked and prompted for more than just the names of the products. As far as I can tell, the Wikipedia article doesn't identify any particulars as to his management other than divisions he worked in. See, now we're just discussing a link to "go look this up elsewhere" rather than actually addressing my questions. You could answer most questions on the Internet by "go look this up in <x>".
- jtode 3y agoI said work, not sit in a boardroom.
- charles_f 3y agoThis is a pure "what about" argument. Both of these examples are ridiculous.
- vouaobrasil 3y agoBoth are ridiculous.
