It's hard to guess, but posting that CSAM as evidence in service of some open-source investigation (I.e. "I found this - can someone look into it?") is consistent with and supported by what little context we have (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36886252 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36886252). If you have reason to believe it was posted out of prurient interest instead, you're welcome to share it.
- clipsy 3y agoTruly amazing that we’ve reached the point where Elon stans will defend posting CSAM rather than admit their cult leader is wrong.
- the_lego 3y agoObjections to more context are never in good faith.
- anigbrowl 3y agoIt's not an open source investigation, it's a reference to this guy who was already serving a life sentence and just got a large additional sentence: https://www.cnn.com/2022/11/10/asia/australian-129-years-jail-philippines-child-sex-intl-hnk/index.html https://www.cnn.com/2022/11/10/asia/australian-129-years-jai... OSINT and CSAM are a bad combination to start with, and reposting pictures of children being victimized on social media is exactly the opposite of responsible investigation.
- the_lego 3y agoI agree it is not responsible, as part of an investigation or not.
