  When Facebook ads are good, it's because people are paying to show the ad specifically to you. (Like when you put something in your cart on a web store, don't check out, and then ads follow you around everywhere telling you to go finish buying the thing.) That's not really demographics-based though, it's explicitly tracking you as a person. Otherwise I'm not impressed. I don't try and hide myself from Facebook/Twitter much, but the first keeps trying to sell me Viagra and shirts for fat guys and the second thinks I'm every kind of doctor at the same time.
