The third image of Sync for Reddit that features the title “Frontpage” followed by a blank black screen, elegantly captures the moment.

AlienBlue (the original 3rd party app) is still working for me, as it happens.

  Narwhal too

Narwhal has made a deal with Reddit to keep running [0]. AlienBlue is owned by Reddit, so presumably they could shut it down any time. [0] https://www.theverge.com/2023/6/29/23777992/reddit-third-party-ios-app-narwhal https://www.theverge.com/2023/6/29/23777992/reddit-third-par...

Cool, let the tiktokers take over. Can't imagine the content will be much more than 9gag, rehashes of old content and OF spam at this point

What does this have to do with TikTok? They don't have anywhere close to the same audience.
  - evolve2k 3y ago
I’m guessing what is implied is tencent who owns TikTok also having a significant ownership in Reddit. The disregard for moderators and community could reflect on an upcoming app based strategy that “doesn’t really rely on moderators” aka tiktok style.

Reddit wants to target "easier" users, like the ones TikTok has. They don't give a shit about api access, privacy or even censorship.

Pretty much this (also cheap content that fits in a meme or tiktok video)

Goodbye, Reddit.

Head over to Lenny or Kbin, they both support activity pub. If your next question is something like “We’ll where can I find programmer humor?”. Here https://lemmy.ml/c/programmerhumor https://lemmy.ml/c/programmerhumor
