I haven’t tried that yet, but I guess one could make a function directory (maybe in a vector database) that the LLM can browse via a function interface. The model would pick from potentially thousands of functions by drilling down into categories. Maybe that’s how their own plug-in system works.

No you have to manually enable the plugins you want and I'm sure they are including the list or APIs in their prompt.

  But they probably don't include all the complete OpenAPI specs in the prompt? That would be a non trivial amount of data.
