Certain businesses are permitted to print money and nobody bats an eye (cloud, hosted data analytics, marketing, hipster web shit) while other things are expected to be free or absurdly cheap and people freak out otherwise. Everyone knows pricing and cost expectations are never rational but they’re particularly ridiculous in software and SaaS.
