Reddit’s CEO edited comments that criticized him (2016)
- activiation 3y ago/u/spez is something else... Probably should be sued
- catchnear4321 3y agohis utility has almost run out. if he can push a hot mess of an IPO over the line, there will be assumptions that his fortune has improved. it may bring out some knives.
- lamontcg 3y agoit'll bring out a golden parachute.
- lamp987 3y agomore liek /u/spaz hehe
- nilespotter 3y agoOn pdw to this day we use "spez" instead of "edit" when editing a post
- spread_love 3y ago[flagged]
- nilespotter 3y agopdw is r/the_donald
- deleted 3y ago[deleted]
- websap 3y agoAre people downvoting this comment because they disagree with the political affiliation?
- spread_love 3y agoProbably just because it's a boring comment that doesn't add to discussion? (r/the_donald was doing that in 2016)
- websap 3y agoBut this article is from 2016, seems relevant to me.
- spread_love 3y agopdw didn't exist then. How is some site not on reddit rehashing a joke from 7 years ago relevant?
- nilespotter 3y ago[flagged]
- spread_love 3y ago> your [sic] bothered Nope, bored; see first comment
- nilespotter 3y agoSeems clear enough to me, yes.
- AH4oFVbPT4f8 3y agoWhat is pdw?
- TechBro8615 3y agopatriots.win, the exodus ship of T_D It was originally thedonald.win but there was some dispute with the domain owner who left the (anonymous) team behind the site. Nobody really knows who the ownership is, but objectively speaking the programming and build quality isn't bad. They've tried to branch out with communities.win but it's still suffering from the Voat problem of a high concentratation of banned subreddits.

- TechBro8615 3y agoDon't ask me. The whole setup is kinda sketchy IMO, I'd be careful what you post there. At least one person was arrested for comments made on the site. Obviously, you shouldn't post things that could be construed as a threat on any forum... but that one in particular is likely some sort of honeypot.
- themtharhillz 3y agoPersonal Defense Weapon, the Parallel Data Warehouse reddit, or one of the_donald knockoffs (Truth Social etc) I guess?
- ctocoder 3y agoIt's good to be the king
- stuckkeys 3y agoThat is what I keep telling my people, but they always end up boooing me. Sigh.

- 0xParlay 3y agoDidn't Reddit hire a child predator to moderate communities for children and then delete discussions about it because said moderator was trans? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aimee_Challenor https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aimee_Challenor
- lamp987 3y agothe predator was this person's father, not the person
- reducesuffering 3y agoThis is also their partner's comments regarding attraction to children[0] I'll save you the awfulness and just leave you with the damning "I fantasize about children having sex, sometimes with adults, sometimes with other children, sometimes kidnapped and forced into bad situations" What's that saying again? "if there’s a Nazi at the table and 10 other people sitting there talking to him, you got a table with 11 Nazis." https://archive.ph/20191111012953/https://threader.app/thread/1150825592562081793 https://archive.ph/20191111012953/https://threader.app/threa...
- COGlory 3y agoWhat on EARTH possesses people to write things like that, and tie it to their real identity, no less? I fundamentally do not understand this phenomenon.
- richbell 3y agoStill not a good look for Aimee. > In August 2018, Knight's father David Challenor was sentenced to 22 years in prison for raping and torturing a 10-year-old girl *in the attic of the home shared by him, his wife Tina Challenor, and Knight*. > Knight's recruitment of her father, despite her knowledge of the charges for 22 sexual offences, led to an investigation and Knight's suspension from the Green Party. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aimee_Challenor https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aimee_Challenor

- isaacremuant 3y agoI find it interesting that suddenly the censorship and admin intervention is a bad thing now that Reddit is becoming "too greedy" for their IPO but when this happened or subs that went against the mainstream Reddit narratives were banned (first quarantined to slowly suffocate them) it was cheered on. This is just the next logical conclusion of user and narrative control.
- CyberDildonics 3y agoEditing other people's comments to make it look like they wrote something different is not the same as not wanting to host toxic communities. What quarantined subreddit are you specifically upset about and why do you think a specific company should have to make it as accessible as possible?
- isaacremuant 3y agoToxic communities is what you call them before censoring them because they have the wrong politics. Any sub I mention you will find a way to justify a ban for. > why do you think a specific company should have to make it as accessible as possible? The bullshit about "private companies can do what they want, it's not censorship" goes away when - it's actually not private companies but the gov/political parties are involved as well (evidence by twitter files but that was obvious well before). - they claim to allow discussion and debate and then it's clear that it's all about US centric politics being a driving censor.
- CyberDildonics 3y agoToxic communities is what you call them before censoring them because they have the wrong politics. What taxes people should pay is politics, allowing excessive threatening of public figures with violence is not politics. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R/The_Donald https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R/The_Donald Any sub I mention you will find a way to justify a ban for. The fact that you won't mention a single one or give an example is telling. In your other comments you are upset about r/The_Donald The bullshit about "private companies can do what they want, it's not censorship" I never said that it wasn't censorship. It is, and agree with it or not there is a reason it happens. Companies don't want to host and broadcast threats of violence and hate speech. US centric politics The mistake here is what you think of as 'politics' a lot of other people would think of as stochastic terrorism. There are plenty of places where you can give your opinion backed up by evidence. There are even plenty of places where you can say anything you want (like voat) regardless of how awful and disgusting it is. The problem isn't that you want to be able to say what you want, the problem is that you want your toxicity broadcasted to a wider audience and no one has to do that.

- nazgulsenpai 3y agoReddit also removed Aaron Swartz from their Founders list.
- henriquez 3y agoBecause open access to academic publications is something only far right nazi science deniers would want.
- tredre3 3y agoThe Verge's Nilay Patel (editor in chief) did the exact same thing BTW. He also sent lawyers after youtubers when they dared mock him during the whole PC building fiasco.
- lucubratory 3y agoNilay Patel edited comments? That's crazy, do you have a link? I got banned from the Verge quite a while ago for being a "troll/coordinated inauthentic behaviour", allegedly in favour of China or Iran. I live in Australia and am simply critical of the US consistently, while also occasionally being critical of countries like China I have no cultural ties to. Apparently that was enough for a ban there.
- 49erfangoniners 3y agoSimilar to how people here downvote antitech comments
- yjftsjthsd-h 3y agoEven at face value, there is a world of difference between downvoting a comment and silently editing it.
- RecycledEle 3y agoThat is why the correct spelling is now R(edit)
