The FDA will apparently let Elon Musk put a computer in a human’s brain
- wsgeorge 3y agoAfter labouring through the article, I wonder what compelled The Verge to publish it, if it was going to be so childishly negative about practically every single fact of the matter. It's okay to be critical of Elon and Neuralink's product, but man I won't be proud to have my name attached to this piece. Edit: tbf I don't read The Verge so perhaps this is normal. The second suggested article below this reads: "A fake climate change theory is going viral on TikTok after Joe Rogan talked about it" It looks to me like since TikTok is currently under fire in the US, lumping it together with Joe Rogan and "fake climate science" is (I lack a better phrase) adding fuel to the flame? Which is the point of the article? So maybe this is normal. Edit 2: Better article at this link https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36077392 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36077392
- King-Aaron 3y ago> This represents Elon Musk, of all people, getting to attach a device to a human brain People really need to stop it with this ridiculous notion that Elon Musk himself is the person doing these things. In the same way people criticize musk for Starship crashing, or the Cybertruck not reaching the market when they said it would. Musk isn't the greatest of characters out there, but there are teams of exceptional engineers and business people who are at the helm of these things. And in the case of neural link, doctors, surgeons, etc. These are experts who have been hired to drive these projects, Musk just helps pay the bills to a greater or lesser extent. It's such a shame that the blind hatred people seem to have for Musk tars all these other talented people with the same brush.
- clipsy 3y agoI think it's a natural pushback against the weird personality cult Musk has built around himself in which he receives 100% of the credit when things go well and 0% of the blame when they don't.
- abudabi123 3y agoA higher human brain bandwidth to devices may experience the slowing of time affording the immerse-individual to play Thinking with Time Machine https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thinking_with_Time_Machine More gets done in less time. Elon M didn't complete the thought on how the experience would be like having megabits a second bandwidth going from the present ten bits in the meatsticks analogy at that recent ytwsj interview.
