With this turn of events I am considering just getting a GPS for navigation and using nothing but F-droid. Google is going to continue doing this nonsense since it is against the terms, so going full open source might be the answer for me
- oynqr 3y agoHave you tried Organic Maps from F-Droid?
- danjoredd 3y agoI did but it couldn't find my Church's address when I gave it a test run. It still had our old address, even though we moved to a new building in 2017. Not sure how it gets information, but I didn't feel that I could trust it if it was giving six year old information
- matkoniecz 3y agoIt is using OpenStreetMap data, which is fully open. Can be edited by anyone at https://www.openstreetmap.org/ https://www.openstreetmap.org/ Organic Maps updates map data about once a month. If you need help in editing - feel free to ask on https://community.openstreetmap.org/ https://community.openstreetmap.org/ (and bits of other sources like elevation data coming from elsewhere, but is primarily powered by OpenStreetMap data)
