> You can get a pretty good taxonomy of different progressive views just by looking at how much “good” is thought to be in various powerful entities. For example, the capital-P Progressive might think “nonprofit > government >>> corporation”, the liberal might think “government > nonprofit > corporation”, and the neoliberal might think “government > corporation > nonprofit”.
This is nothing but infantilizing how others think to make yourself feel better. Anyone reasonably intelligent is perfectly aware that there are good and bad examples from each category -- and not only that, but that different problem domains can inherently favor one category over another.
- fwlr 3y agoI’m not really sure how to respond other than to say no, that’s not what I was doing at all. I don’t think progressives, conservatives, liberals, neoliberals, etc., are infantile, I’m not trying to feel like I’m better than any of them. And I really don’t understand your last point at all - a taxonomy obviously contains lots of different things, and grouping them into one broad similarity is never meant to imply they are fully homogenous. Like, it’s obviously a scatterplot and I’m just pointing at some general trends.
