- haswell 4y agoI grew up in a literal christian cult, but didn’t interpret it that way at all. The themes hinted at in the trailer seem like the core existential ideas/problems that humans have been engaging with across cultures and religions since time immemorial. The idea of a gray faceless “other” is present in christianity, but is a constant across religions and cultures. It’s also at the center of politics. I suspect that what each person sees in this game will largely depend on the cultural context from which they experience it. I’m curious about whether the way this is presented in game will serve to provoke thoughtful reflection, or will reinforce bad ideas about the inevitability of “otherness”.
- nomel 4y agoI assumed “the others” was a funny take on “us vs them”, for the sole purpose being something to fight in a game.
