LLMs are instrumental in pitching the idea that you can fire all your expensive humans and replace them with expensive machines. Why hire a customer service department when you can just point your customers at an AI? Why hire an operations staff when planning and process supervision can be done with an algorithm. And if you ever thought you needed a human, you could just hire a contractor/consultant from BCG or MacKinzie. They would fall under quarterly expenses and not the annualized personnel budget, and would be fully deductible in virtually every jurisdiction.
And even if you can't do that now, there's a chance it might work in the future, so you can legit tell your investors your plan is to drastically lower costs starting around two to four years. And it's still considered plausible, so when we're both sued by our investors for fraud in four years, you can legit make the claim you acted in good faith and on advice from people considered "experts."
But to keep up the charade, we must blatantly ignore any bad result and brand any academic with the temerity to get in the way of my startup earning me a bazillion dollars as a crank.
So... are you a crank or do you want to join "team bazillionaire" and ride this cash cow to the bank!?!?
Remember... it's not a sin to be lied to.

- retrocryptid 4y agoI was surprised to learn recently that eBay doesn't have a human support organization anymore. That greatly reduces the likelihood I'll look for old computers there...
