- rolph 4y agoi think it would be more of a creed war, coupled with a loss of heed toward socially ordained authority. know your nieghbours, and let them know you, is a long step toward safety.
- orionblastar 4y agoCivil war, reds vs blues. This will be a social war fought in social media. In the USA we are so polarized that war has to break out soon.
- bmelton 4y agoProbably not. The 24 hour news cycle isn't interesting enough for us to not always be on the brink of something, but stop watching that and start just hanging out in the real world, and things calm down considerably. A few years back I went to an audio shop to have a car stereo installed. Another patron there was also waiting, and we struck up a conversation. He and I couldn't have been more politically dissimilar, but in the few hours of conversation we had, we managed to bond over life experiences, fatherhood, etc., and while political topics were broached, we managed polite disagreements where needed (though even in disagreement, often agreed over _the problem_ while sometimes having disagreements over _the solution_) and both learned from each others' perspective. I kept thinking if we'd been on Twitter or Facebook, the conversation would have probably started adversarially and devolved from there, and that was around the time I started curtailing my use of social media. Since then, the world has been considerably more delightful. I've never cared about or needed to know someone else's political leanings to make friends with them, and I have friends in real life who share in my beliefs. Others who don't. Some who share, share strongly, others weakly, and vice versa. The fact that we can't seem to manage friendships that cross ideological lines on the internet seems a problem unique to it -- those who refuse to cross ideological lines in person are (in my experience) fewer and further between. So, if something feels or seems imminent to you, perhaps log off. If logging off isn't an option, check out how contentious American history has been in the past. 1919 was a particularly interesting time in Chicago, and at least to me puts in perspective how much worse our daily interactions could be. We've had periods of explosive discord in our history, and those events are largely not being replicated now.

- LinuxBender 4y agoIs the US headed towards a race war or civil war? I think the media would want us to believe so. There are certainly some dense failing cities and some states that are failing economically that have elevated levels of frustration, rage, angst, rioting. People will devolve into mobs and direct that rage to the easiest targets, even if the targets are incorrect and/or highly irrational. A mob tantrum so to speak. Adding to this social media algorithms that help direct peoples rage against one another for cheap clicks rather than giving them the opportunity to think and realize what is actually having a negative impact on their lives. Some might even call it a very effective psychological warfare campaign having a powerful effect of taking attention of root cause problems. Prior to anything resembling a civil war breaks out, I would expect military to be called in and the aforementioned cities would become mini-police-states until things are under control. The mandatory lock-downs and curfews would further enrage many people. I don't know what happens after that. If this were a a proper dystopian movie, the internet or at least media and social platforms would be sabotaged and people would start thinking for themselves and they would rise above it. Being this is not a movie I have no idea what really happens next. [Edit] Question for the proper historians. In the past when the media would get people spun-up, divided and amplify their frustrations, what usually happened next? Any major events?

- LinuxBender 4y agoWhat if military is also divided ? Is that happening? The few social circles I have of active duty military are only divided on the woke topics but I am not aware of that turning into mobs or riots or even affecting their ability to do their jobs. If this is occurring I am not seeing it.

- wg0 4y agoAs an outsider, I think that's not going to happen. There can be a January 6 here and there but that is an incident. What I observe is that left and right both, I'd urge that both media camps aren't fully honest and they do take liberties with reporting, how much is though debatable.

- rainytuesday 4y agoWar-game a civil war situation. I don't think its possible against a modern state -- I was going to type out a few but they are so ridiculous -- they quickly end with the rabble being crushed by the US Military. Xinjiang is instructive here: A geographically distinct area with a homogenous ethnic group distinct from the ruling class, with a distinct history and culture, with a strong separatist movement -- completely brought to heel by a modern state.

The greatest taboo of our time is speaking of hearing the voices in our heads. A conspiracy has undermined us. Modern man, by virtue of incompetence corruptibility and treacherous hearts is entangled in a game of infinite extortion. This scheme unspoken and unreported upon the world is enabled and perpetuated by the secret occult society of white American thought control. Thought Control Americana. - inphovore 3y agoAmerica’s Civil War Dismissing your every denial in advanced, I will provide you with some brief overview and history. You think the government is your enemy, and they are hapless incompetent tools. When it is Muslims Russians and Chinese, Americans talk such talk. When it is white American men rape murder extorting for power, Americans are submissive and eager to propagate an alternative more favorable narrative. These have over decades built pyramid schemes of extortion among you. Arizona territory created this problem over thirty years ago. White terror gestating in sheriff Joe’s prisons, infecting the military and law enforcement, using the rest of America as a breeding ground for their corruption. Arizona’s military strategic think tank was unwitting nursemaid to a psycho terror horror men’s minds will refuse to comprehend. California territory, Texas, New England, Florida, and midlands are their own distinct territories. The most unscrupulous of American power heads ARE IN PRISON. Or comfortable in homemade safe houses, living like spooks. Through controlled condemned men protected by concrete and rebar fortifications can rape murder and hostage your children (in their own lives, without needing to keep them chained up somewhere.) these will gang rape cops (or marines, or navy seals). Whitemanistan America is the most dangerous place in the world for lawful US military assets over the past five years. Power pays thought controlled Americans in sex. Protects their secrets, teaches how to maintain controls. Americans like their controls, and will argue that no one has proven they aren’t wonderful, or indistinguishable from bullshit since no one really believes in this anyways. Controls really know how to talk to Americans. They use silly mini-me voices and make bad things sound like other peoples fault. American is being extorted and controlled by bubbling idiots who sound cute, dancing in the backs of our minds. All this while you argue that it is even possible, or could go on this way without your smarty pants noticing. Controls are spreading the word among your communities that the Jews are the secret state of boogiemen. Insinuation of their corruptibility will be highlighted as a distraction from your own. The irony of a conspiracy to conspiratorialize a conspiracy of others to sew mutual undoing. Though control is powerful make believe. When the enemy are the secret voices within, all one can really do is tend to one’s own incompetence and avoid being an instrument of corruption.
