Switch modder Bowser released from prison, likely owes Nintendo for rest of life
- joemazerino 4y agoHe looks like Bowser.
- 1900-01-01 4y agoBowser could be a good name for a bad guy in a Nintendo game. They should capitalize it.
- tester457 4y agoNominative determinism[0] is the hypothesis that people tend to gravitate towards areas of work that fit their names. Quite fitting that Gary Bowser has made himself an enemy of Nintendo. So Long, Gary Bowser [0] https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nominative_determinism https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nominative_determinism
- runnerup 4y agoCEO of Nintendo: Doug Bowser. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doug_Bowser https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doug_Bowser
- tester457 4y agoThe duality of Bowser. I forgot about him, thank you for the additional example. It appears that Bowsers are gravitationally pulled towards a Nintendo black hole.
- SliceOfWaifu 4y agoDid he violate Nintendo's copyright in any way? It is my understanding they were just selling tools to put CFW on your consoles; not selling or hosting roms/source code.
- kadoban 4y agoJust the DMCA I think, which criminalizes the creation of tools to break copyright (with all of the obvious problems that prohibition entails).
- runnerup 4y agoFascinating how a Canadian was convicted of breaking a USA law. I assume the criminal was probably selling the device to Americans but it's bizarre to me. As an American, I would never face judgment for some of the anti-speech laws of China or Saudi Arabia, for example. I know the Kim Dotcom story is the best example of USA law being global law, but every instance is genuinely fascinating.
- realusername 4y agoThanks to him for his contribution to the gaming ecosystem
