AI is already taking video game illustrators’ jobs in China
- ncr100 4y agoInteresting that our technology is a significant source of both pleasure and pain, currently. I wonder - what is a blanket solution to reduce that pain? > The rise of AI art has created widespread anxiety in China’s video game art industry. > “AI is developing at a speed way beyond our imagination,” Xu Yingying, illustrator at an independent game art studio in Chongqing[.] > NetEase’s Naraka: Bladepoint, an action-adventure battle royale game, rolled out a temporary feature in March that allowed players to create new “skins” for avatars using the company’s in-house AI program. > Artists joke that they should switch careers to peddling rice noodles on the street instead[.] Government regulation is focusing on Copyright, only, so far. Not on new-AI-art displacing existing workforces' wages. EDIT: The AI-Caution game mentioned in the article https://store.steampowered.com/app/1930420/_/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/1930420/_/ is pretty freaky. (Unmute the video.)
- TheLoafOfBread 3y agoHow ironic that Chinese copying everything around the world are finding their match in AI which is able to copy things better and faster. Maybe it is time to come up with something original, because that's what AI is unable to do.
