Google's Bard AI Seems Boring Compared to ChatGPT and Microsoft’s BingGPT
- crop_rotation 4y agoGoogle has to keep search profitable. Any powerful (thus expensive) LLM that displaces search traffic will just eat their margins. The entire company is based around the fact that search prints money. If the search margins decline, can the company even survive? Microsoft on the other hands prints cash elsewhere and search is more like a side business on which any non zero margin might be Welcome. The only way Google wins this is if they figure out a cost structure for serving and similar levels of monetisation fast enough.
