Ask HN: Which progressive web apps (PWA) do you use, if any?
I really like the concept of PWAs, but I haven't used any in earnest, at least, not as an app. I've never installed a PWA or added one to my home screen, although I'm sure I've visited websites that support A2HS (Add To Home Screen).
I'm curious to hear from you if you use any. What am I missing out on, as a user? It's hard to justify the time spent to build PWA as an app if I don't even use them that way myself.
- ggeorgovassilis 4y agoI'm the author of [1] and use it fairly often. Yeah, I spend a lot of time waiting for the bus. [1] https://github.com/ggeorgovassilis/superstartrek https://github.com/ggeorgovassilis/superstartrek

- chewz 4y agoMy own - music recommending service integrated with Spotify.. And I am the only user.. Didn't have time and resources to install on iPhone via other means.
- mejutoco 4y agoI add some websites to the home screen, but rarely I am pleasantly surprised by a PWA. The only one I reliably used is my own. A port of the iOS calculator for the ipad (or any platform) https://getcalculator.app/ https://getcalculator.app/
- jadamczyk 4y agolinear app
- schwartzworld 4y agohttps://nertu.app/ https://nertu.app/ I use this for instrument tuning.
- jqpabc123 4y agoWhat am I missing out on, as a user? Mostly privacy. A PWA runs in a browser restricted environment. It can't access your contact list for example. I use PWAs for banking and a few other things. They should be more popular but the public has been trained to think installed "app".
- perilunar 4y agoThis. I would never use a native app for any sort of social media. I do for my bank though. I trust my bank (they already have my money); I would never trust Facebook or Twitter or TikTok.
- mdwalters 4y agoI use the Spotify PWA often
- nicbou 4y agodevdocs.io It's blazing fast and it works offline. It's a massive improvement over the standard docs.
