- vlovich123 4y agoRaise the retirement age is the biggest issue I heard about. There may be other topics as I’ve only been personally aware
- lm28469 4y agoIt's the straw that broke the camel's back, people are fed up, see no future in what France/Europe is building, are more and more against globalisation/capitalism at all cost Most jobs aren't fulfilling, job security is nowhere as good as it used to be (gig economy, "uberisation"), a lot of full time jobs are barely enough to get by, owning a house is impossible for the new generations, 30% of people over 60 aren't able to find a job. They're throwing people in meaningless lives with no bright future in sight while the top 1% is richer than ever Add 2 years of covid, the war in Ukraine and you get the absolute worst time for a reform like that Remember the yellow vests movement a few years back ? this is chapter two
- jmpman 4y agoThey’re always protesting the wrong thing. They need to push for much higher estate taxes. If the 1% are gaining at the expense of everyone else, then prevent that from being transferred between generations. Then the 1% will begin to care about the plight of the 99%, as their heirs will be part of that group.
- jokoon 4y agotrue, but that's a divisive thing because nobody knows how to tax the 25% richest people, so it never gets done. everybody is arguing "what is rich", and for rich people, there is always somebody richer than them. it's up to the lawmakers to do it. the protests are there to make them sweat so they can find a compromise. taxes are always a non-sequitur because most people have no idea how they work, which allows the rich to not pay them.
