Deep psychological work is going to take longer than a year, cost $$$$, could be fleeting, and clearly not going to finish the degree in a year. Or quit the program and start a new life. But I’d strongly advise OP first honestly discuss that with their mentors. Life absolutely will go on and the market will find a place for OPs work in either direction.
