I get it, but what a strange world we live in where we need a monthly subscription just to be able to power the vehicles we own.

- schemester 4y agoYou don’t. It’s one choice in the electricity market.
- kurtoid 4y agoWe do that with combustion engines...
- sschueller 4y agoLast time I checked you didn't pay a monthly fee to fill up your tank. It's a whole different paradigm when you compare fill/charge as you go vs monthly recurring fees.
- imtringued 4y agoI consistently pay the same every month. The fees are recurring in a very real sense. What you are talking about is usage based Vs flat rate billing.
- Rebelgecko 4y agoI don't with any of mine
- BoorishBears 4y agoYou're free to do that to your ICE: https://www.startyoshi.com/ https://www.startyoshi.com/
- jfengel 4y agoYou seem sincerely surprised that energy costs money. That's not a new thing. This is a new model of paying for energy, but it seems weird to suggest that your ownership of the vehicle somehow meant that subscription-based versions of paying for power are an injustice. Nobody is forcing you to take a subscription. You're welcome to power it for free all by yourself, with solar panels. Or, for all they care, build yourself a generator with a wood-burning fire and start chopping trees.
