“An easyJet flight just made a 360 turn over the North Sea” (Northern Lights)
- Exmoor 4y agoI flew from Seattle through Iceland on my way to Norway a couple months ago. Flying still feels a bit magical to me, so I always try to sit by the window and will actually think through the route when picking my seat in case I can end up seeing something amazing from the sky. I specifically considered the Northern Lights, something I'd only barely seen once despite theoretically living in an area where they appear from time to time, and chose a seat on the left side of the plane so I'd be facing north. Sure enough, I was treated to several hours of amazing Northern Lights between Greenland and Iceland.
- Scoundreller 4y agoAlso had the pleasure of flying over Greenland during daytime on an unusually clear day. It was just, wow.
- Kon-Peki 4y agoVery nice pilot! I’m glad both sides got to see! This reminds me of the time I was flying from San Juan to Chicago. Our flight was delayed slightly due to a launch at Cape Canaveral. On my side of the plane, we got to look out the window and see the Falcon 9 stage separation and watch the second stage ignition and continue on! The first officer then came out of the cockpit and walked down the aisle showing everyone on the left side of the plane the pictures he took on his iPad. Half the plane was pretty mad.
- nuc1e0n 4y agoAurora Borealis. At this time of night, at this time of year, localized entirely above the North Atlantic.
